The True Cost of Not Charging Enough

Thank you, Dan Brown, for spending some time with us today to drive home the importance of getting your advice framework and back-office processes right to ensure you’re set up to thrive, and not just survive.

According to Dan, the single best way to get out of the hamster wheel of being stuck working ‘in’ the business, to get to a point where you can outsource and work ‘on’ the business (ie. your growth strategy) is to increase revenue.

Here are just a few tidbits that I took out of today’ session. I highly recommend watching the replay as there were many more nuggets of gold, I just didn’t have the time to write them all down while we were live:

  • The importance of beliefs and mindset

  • The challenges facing advisers right now AKA ‘The Vortex’ and what you need to do to get out of it

  • Establishing a meeting framework

  • Truly understanding and articulating your clients’ needs

  • Positioning the sale with confidence

  • Review and critique how you run the meeting, getting feedback from prospects who do not sign on as clients

  • Take action!

Here’s Dan’s ‘High Converting Fee Positioning Framework’ PDF download, it’s yours to use:

High Converting Fee Positioning Framework.pdf

Dan is also offering a 10% discount on all of his masterclasses for the XY+ community (thanks Dan, legend!). You can grab instructions on how to claim HERE.

The Profit and Positioning Sales Masterclass has been specifically designed to show financial advisers on how to achieve the results Daniel has experienced over the past 3 years.

Those in the mastermind will receive the exact sales positioning and conversion training Daniel has used to transform the biggest under-performer within his business to now being the top adviser.

**This masterclass only happens three times a year. The next masterclass kicks off shortly and there are two spots left if you are interested in jumping on board**

RRP is $2,997 + GST. (Dan says this is a tenth of the price of what he has spent on coaching courses and programs to get to where it is at now)

XY+ members pay $2,697 + GST

The Lead Generation Masterclass. In this 6-week mastermind course, you’ll discover the same marketing strategies Daniel has personally used to generate over 200 new leads in 2020.

**This is an online masterclass you can enrol in at any time and work through at your own pace**

RRP is $597+ GST.

XY+ members pay $537 + GST

Highly recommend joining Dan’s MBS Advisory group on XY HERE.

You can connect with Dan directly HERE.

A big thank you to Conaill Keniry for giving us some of his time to walk us through exactly how his video journey has evolved. In this session Conaill took us through the different types of gear and the exact set up he now uses. We dived into editing, ways to increase speed and decrease effort when creating videos and adviser specific tips. Here’s Conaill slides which I highly recommend downloading:

Valuable Client Meetings for New & Existing Comprehensive Advice Clients.

Thank you Jim Stackpool for an insightful and fun session that included a client meeting demonstration. Virtual high five to Sam Kernaghan for volunteering (ok ok, being nominated) as tribute to play the role of client while Jim took us through his Certainty Discovery meeting process using his Certainty framework.

There were more than a handful of great FP nuggets shared, and we really enjoyed how Jim jumped in and out of role-play mode to dive deeper and explain the ‘why’ behind what he was doing.

Here’s just a couple of quick takeaways I had time to jot down during the session:

– Jim is a big advocate of having a really strong process or framework to follow, but not a script. You can absolutely give the meeting framework your own style and flare in the way you ask questions and guide the conversation with prospects and clients.

– Get comfortable with silence. This gives your prospects and clients time to really think about the questions you’re asking. They will most likely fill the gaps of silence with more information that will help you to understand where they are at now, and where you can add value.

– At various stages of the meeting, ask your prospects and clients whether they need help with money, advice or planning because these are not the same thing.

You can also join Jim’s Certainty Advice Group on XY HERE. Jim regularly shares content, webinar dates and is available to answer any questions you have.

Happy learning!

Learn how to create a great digital fact finding experience

Yesterday’s session was an informative look at the key elements that make up a great fact finding experience for your clients. Adrian also walked us through the DIY apps vs different out of the box app options you can use; the pros and cons of each and how to decide which path is the best choice for you, your team and your business.

Adrian believes it’s all about the conversations that happen around the fact find, and then making sure the fact find can make those conversations easier and more effective.

Here’s Adrian’s slides from yesterday you can download:

XY Fact Finding Session.pdf

The DIY Apps you can use include programs like JotForm, Typeform and Zoho Forms. This may be the ideal solution for the adviser who has a very clear idea of what they want to achieve with their fact find and who wants to tailor the questions and output to suit.

The out of the box app options Adrian mentioned included:

→ All in one Advice CRM Fact Find solutions (eg. Xplan, Midwinter, Adviser Logic)

→ Personal finance apps (eg. MoneyBrilliant, Moneysoft, MyProsperity)

→ Adviser specific digital fact finds (eg. Astute Wheel, Advice Revolution, iFact Find)

All options have their pro’s and con’s (pages 17-20 of Adrian’s slides). As every advice business is different and has it’s own set of requirements, it makes sense there’s no golden goose or one-size-fits-all approach to digital fact finding that will solve the client experience and FASEA compliant conundrum for every adviser. Adrian’s advice is to think through what it is that is most important to you, and then look at all of the options available and weigh up which of your boxes they tick best.

If you have any specific tech questions you can post them into the tech stack topic on XY, reach out to Adrian on XY HERE or shoot him an email at adrian@advicerevolution.com.au✌️

The Advice Tech Stack: An Interactive Q&A

A one hour session on the advice tech stack as part of the Work From Home Tour was just not enough, so we’re bringing back the ex-adviser and innovation hacker to dive deeper into the advice tech stack. Rather than a presentation, Adrian Patty is keen to flip this session on its head and throw it over to you guys to run it by throwing your specific questions his way. From here, Adrian can provide guidance and share his screen to walk you through relevant examples.

We all know tech is a HUGE topic, and there’s no one-size-fits-all tech stack for every advice practice because everyone’s needs are different. So get your questions ready and circle this session in your calendar, you’ll want to tune in live for this one!

Mastering Your Social Media

Thank you Adele Martin – Money Mentor for walking us through how you structure your social media strategy and giving us some real-life demonstrations of how you’re actually executing on the strategy. Here were the top three nuggets we took from today’s session:

  • Give your social media strategy a clear framework and structure. This will help prevent overwhelm if you haven’t really gotten stuck into your social media marketing, chasing your tail trying to think of interesting things to post on the fly and will help better understand your ROI, instead of adopting a ‘spray and pray’ methodology.
  • Re-purpose your content. If you create a podcast, pull out quotes and mini audio grabs you can design and post on your other social channels. If you record a video, pull out some thought provoking questions from it that you can post on your Facebook or Instagram account as posts or images. Don’t blast the same post on every channel, tweak your content to suit the social medium.
  • Use social media to build ‘know, like and trust’ with your ideal demographic and stay relevant, don’t become the Blockbuster video of Financial Planning.
Join the Adele Martin – Money Mentor community on XY here.
